Step Right Up ! Fun For One And All !!!
The Second Night Of The Long Beach Run Keeps Up The Intensity Of The First. The Pyrotechnics Really Get Cookin' With Bird Song. Phil,Jerry And Bob Playing Off Each Other As In Days Of Old. Point / Counter Point Fills That Make The Bird Soar. The Wheel, When It Comes Rolling Through, After A Sorta Stuttering Estimated, Turns The Show Into Something For The Ages. A Sudden Start, Then A Slow Roll That Gathers You In Like A Cosmic Snowball Rollin'Down Hill. Into A Long Spacey Dissolve Into Drums Accented With Flora Purim And Airto Of GONG With Their Best Of Many Appearances With The Dead. They Continue With The Band Through Space. (And That Can Be Taken Literally In This Case) Building An Intro,Then Crashing Into The Other One That Is Unlike Any Other. Listen Again To Phil,Jerry And Bob At The Finish As They Interweave Their Individual Lines. This Segment Of The Wheel-> Drums-> The Other One Is, If Not The Best, Then One Of The Most Unique Run Of Songs Of The Era.
As It Gives Way To Stella, You Wonder How Often We've Heard The Wheel And Stella Blue In The Same Show. Not For A While Anyway. (Have To Reference Ol' Bread Crumb About That One) This Is All Through The Hard Work Of Dave Usborne Is . Delivered In A Delightful Matrix That Takes You To The Place And Time. You Can Almost Feel The Gestalt Energy Flyin' Back And Forth From The Crowd To The Band And Back Again. Fun For One And All, Step Right Up !!!
